HSDS - Introduction

Heaven Sword Dragon Sabre or for short HSDS is quite different from other Jin Yong stories. While the greatness and heroism of a wandering hero is certainly a common theme, the greatness of a clan is hardly depicted. What sets HSDS apart from other novels is its complex and detailed description of the organizations’ structures, especially the Ming Sect.

HSDS ‘00 was nothing compared to the classical ‘86. There was a total of four adaptations of this story and by far the greatest and most outstanding would be the version ‘86, with Tony Leung as Zhang Wuji and Kitty Lai as Zhao Ming. The ‘78 version disgusted me and don’t get me started on ‘00. I haven’t seen the last version ‘02, but I’m staying true to my belief that ‘86 will stay forever outstanding.
